A New Chapter in Preserving History
The wait is almost over! Join us on Saturday, November 14, 2026, as we celebrate the grand opening of the new Sultana Disaster Museum in Marion, Arkansas.
More than 160 years after the Sultana steamboat disaster of April 27, 1865, we are opening the doors to a new space dedicated to preserving the stories, honoring the lives lost, and sharing one of the most devastating maritime disasters in American history with future generations.
Our new museum features thoughtfully designed exhibits, historic artifacts, immersive storytelling, and the remarkable history of the Sultana and the thousands of people whose lives were forever changed by the tragedy.
